Friends of mine were expecting, so I shot this for them. Photography is as large as one can try. I enjoy testing new genres as much as opportunities show up. Joséphine is a namecode of course. ;)
Friday 18th March the universe blessed me with the honor to walk in the shadow of a giant ... I had the great pleasure to shoot the mighty Burna Boy in the huge Geneva Arena !!!
What an experience !!! I was not ready. Thanks a lot, Michael, Sam, and Abe for trusting me, and the whole team, for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I had the pleasure to visit the Akagera National Park for 2 full days at the end of 2019. It was my first time trying myself on wildlife photography. And I was stunned by the results. I used 2 Canon Cameras: the 5D Mark IV and the Canon EOS R which acted as the B Camera. I had the 70-200mm EF lens and the 2X extender.
I can’t wait to go back to this style but with more powerful telelenses. My next trips should be somewhere like Kenya or South Africa for this type of photography.
Geneva is the biggest city close to my home. Normally we tend to neglect taking pictures of where we live. But this is just a waste of some of the best occasions to test new styles and new tools. I will shoot as much as I can this and its events.
Sunsets, what’s to be said there! They are just the best time of the day. Fun fact the first picture on this page is not really mine, it is … but not really. Let me explain. Mont Salève somewhere in Autumn 2017. We went there to see/shoot the sunset, at this time my sole camera if I can call it a camera was the Google Nexus 6! Yes, we started from the bottom. And I kind of directed my ex-girlfriend into shooting this picture with her iPhone 6, this picture is an untouched JPG file, but it is perfect and it is one of “my“ best pictures.
Spring, flowers, good weather and Canon colors dreamland for many photographers. It is for sure the beginning of better sensations when the daylight becomes longer the birds come back and the temperatures become livable again.
It is for sure the season where I go out with my camera more often and shoot. Geneva’s Jardin botanique is one of the finest in western Europe and at sunsets the light is just perfect and the flowers just gorgeous. I recommend anyone that wants to try shooting flowers in the region to include this on his/her list.
Nyungwe forest is one of the National parks in Rwanda. Shooting forest is as challenging as interesting. You can go full wide and shoot landscapes but you can also go macro to show in detail flowers and or trees. This was one of my most enjoyable unplanned shoots, and I will probably be shooting in the forest again. It’s just a shame I only had my main Camera and couldn’t really shoot animals.
I have a Mavic Pro 2 and I love flying it here and there, even if the legislation blocks me in some countries. But this device is one of the coolest cameras we can get. It doesn’t get any better than this? Or does it?
I will try myself to some FPV at some point in the future for sure! But for now, top-down pictures, landscapes, sunsets, and sunrises are just the icing on my photography cake!
I am not super comfortable shooting in cities, but I think it is something we all struggle with, in the beginning. But it’s coming slowly, I find it easier and easier to be able to shoot in cities.
On my list I still got a proper shoot in Paris, Milan, Venice, New York, London, Dubai and Tokyo for now.
Best shooting with a lot of Kigalian photographers. It was fun and a pleasure shooting with all these guys. For more details on the camera settings check the 2019 Swiss national day.
Shooting fireworks! Oh lord, what a nightmare for noobs who won’t listen. This is the best lesson I had in photography. To summarize it I tried to shoot a firework close to my place “on my terms”, and failed miserably. I decided to sit down and watch a tutorial on the subject and voilà. Now I know the recipe to have the best fireworks pictures :
Aperture: f22
Shutter speed: 15 seconds
ISO: 100
Manual focus: focus to Infinite.
You are welcome!
Here is the tutorial mentioned above:
Nighttime photography is for sure one of the most challenging styles in photography. However, like everything else it has no secret. No secret other than learning what others do and try it ourselves. It is always a different but pleasant surprise to see what some look like by night.
I shot Geneva, Kigali, Lyon and a bit London, but I will surely shoot again these and many more.
Rwanda is known as the country of a 1000 hills, and its North is known for its beautiful volcanoes and luxury hotels, it has been even in some annual Forbes magazine most recommended places to visit. I am planning to go one day to shoot the gorillas … one day !!!
And when you have visited Musanze, and Rubavu the best way to continue the visit is to go down to Karongi along the lake Kivu. Karongi has also plenty of hotels and nice views!
If I was to get prisoner of a style, landscapes would be the one I would choose easily. It is so beautiful and full of peace. It requires only time and patience and observing mother nature, nothing more.
Shooting landscapes is my meditation.
Snow might not be my natural habitat, but I enjoy shooting it for sure. It is quite tricky especially when you try some fancy top-down dronie picture. But in Landscapes with clear views … it can be the best addition to any picture.
This is a hard one to pull. Especially as a photographer with no special access. But I love cars and I enjoyed a lot shooting these.
Black and white is the purest form of photography. It vehicles emotion direct to the heart, no diversion, no fantasies just the image and its message.
It is always a good thing to try new things, I am currently exploring new styles and techniques and I am loving it.
Thousands gathered in Geneva on Tuesday, June 9, in support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. Protesters marched along the Mont Blanc bridge to the other side of the city along Lake Geneva, chanting slogans and stopping to take the knee in a sign of solidarity with US protesters. Although large, the demonstration passed peacefully. (Source : garda.com )

Beautiful fall colours in the Jura.
My local close Banf.
The Jura mountains again, but this time from the air.
Geneva upped its game this year despite the pandemic.
A beautiful autumn afternoon in the Jura mountains and around the Mot Salève ! The golden hours are really creamy and colorful this time of the year.
Blausee is one of the most beautiful small places in Switzerland. It is also one of the most Instagrammed places in the whole country. I will probably try to get back for other sets of colors. Winter ? Autumn ? I will see.
The 1st of August is the swiss national day, most cities have fireworks events all over the country. Villeneuve beaches are one of the best spots to observe Montreux’s fireworks but also a certain number of other small ones in the cities uphills.
